Rimrock Banff joins Accor loyalty network as hotel brands expand all-inclusive options
Rimrock Banff now offers Accor points earning and redemption, while JW Marriott opens its first all-inclusive resort in Costa Rica and Fairmont Mayakoba adds a seaweed-related stay guarantee.
Rimrock Banff has joined Accor’s Emblems Collection, becoming the brand’s first property in North America and adding Accor loyalty points earning and redemption. For Canadian travellers considering a Banff stay and US visitors heading north, that creates another option for using hotel points.
Elsewhere, JW Marriott’s first all-inclusive resort has opened in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Park Hyatt also plans to enter the category with a resort in Mexico later this year. Frequent flyers planning a resort stay should distinguish between the two: the JW Marriott is operating, while the Park Hyatt remains an upcoming opening.
Fairmont Mayakoba in Mexico has introduced a beach guarantee running through Dec. 20. If significant seaweed buildup restricts access to the beach or ocean, the resort will offer a complimentary night on a future visit. Canadian and US guests should check the qualifying conditions before booking; the benefit is a return-stay night, not a refund for the affected stay.
Marriott has also announced seven planned hotels in Thailand with FICO Corporation. The lineup includes JW Marriott, Citizen M and Four Points Flex by Sheraton properties in Bangkok, plus Series by Marriott hotels in Pattaya and Phuket. These are future additions for Bonvoy members to watch, rather than immediate booking options.
IHG’s Kimpton brand is targeting its first Rome hotel by 2029, with 114 rooms and a restored theatre. In London, the Waldorf Astoria Admiralty Arch remains scheduled to open in March 2027 and has named British skincare company OSKIA as its spa operator.
