How to use Delta Reserve’s two-flight welcome offer—and check the costs

New cardmembers can earn two round-trip flight certificates and 50,000 SkyMiles, but a US$650 annual fee, US$10,000 spending requirement and booking restrictions warrant a closer look.

Delta’s Reserve American Express welcome offer could cover two eligible round-trip flights, but it is not a pair of unrestricted tickets. Here’s how to assess it before applying.

1. Check eligibility and your budget. The offer for new cardmembers ends November 4, 2026. You must spend US$10,000 in eligible purchases within your first six months to earn two flight certificates plus 50,000 SkyMiles. The annual fee is US$650. Use the application terms to confirm eligibility, and count only spending you already planned.

2. Match the certificates to your itinerary. They cover Delta Comfort or Delta Main on eligible trips within the contiguous 48 US states, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Book at least 21 days ahead and budget up to US$80 per person in taxes and fees. There are no blackout dates, but destination and other restrictions still apply. Comfort provides extra legroom and dedicated overhead storage, with premium snacks and beverages on eligible flights.

3. Keep the country and loyalty limits straight. US travellers should evaluate this as a SkyMiles offer, not a MileagePlus, AAdvantage, Chase Ultimate Rewards or Amex Membership Rewards US bonus. Canadian travellers should check card eligibility first: this is not an Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards or Amex Membership Rewards Canada offer. The certificate geography does not include Canadian departures; no CAD pricing is supplied.

4. Use airport benefits where your plans qualify. The card provides 15 Delta Sky Club visits per Medallion Year when flying Delta. For complimentary Centurion Lounge access, book your Delta flight with the Reserve card; access terms apply. An application-fee credit every four years covers US$120 for Global Entry or up to US$85 for TSA PreCheck, potentially reducing the cost of faster airport processing.

5. Count savings you will actually use. Enrolment is required for up to US$240 annually in eligible US Resy restaurant credits and up to US$120 in eligible US rideshare credits. Check the detailed terms before spending. Checked-bag benefits can also reduce trip costs, but the source provides no dollar saving.

Keep the welcome certificates separate from the Companion Certificate issued after renewal. That benefit has different destination rules and requires US$22–US$250 in government taxes and fees for itineraries with up to four segments. Neither benefit makes the annual fee disappear: compare your eligible fares and useful perks against the card’s actual costs.
