Biman expands Boeing order to 25 jets, but North American growth remains years away
Biman has added 11 Boeing aircraft to its order book. Deliveries under the initial deal start in 2031, so Canadian and US travellers should not expect immediate new routes or award options.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has added 11 Boeing jets to an earlier order for 14, bringing its total commitment to 25 aircraft. Canadian and US travellers should keep booking around existing schedules: the fleet expansion is years away and does not itself announce new North American routes, fares or loyalty benefits.
The additional aircraft are five 787-10s and six 737 MAX 8s, taking the order book to 13 787-10s, two 787-9s and 10 MAX 8s. Deliveries for the original order are scheduled between November 2031 and October 2035; no delivery window has been announced for the additional jets. Biman currently operates 19 aircraft, including five turboprops.
Biman plans to deploy the 787-10 on high-demand Middle East services, the 787-9 on longer routes to Europe and North America, and the MAX 8 across the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia. US expansion faces a separate regulatory hurdle: Bangladesh lacks the FAA Category 1 safety rating needed for its airlines to launch US service. Aircraft orders alone will not unlock flights to major US hubs.

Likewise, it announces no USD fares or new earning, redemption or transfer options involving United MileagePlus, American AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, Chase Ultimate Rewards or Amex Membership Rewards US. Wait for confirmed schedules and loyalty arrangements before moving points for a prospective Biman itinerary.
