Hilton Surpass offer: 130,000 points and a free night for a US$150 annual fee

American Express is offering new Hilton Honors Surpass cardmembers 130,000 Hilton points plus a free night reward after US$3,000 in purchases within six months. The offer ends Jan. 13, 2027; the annual fee is US$150.

Using the source’s TPG valuation of 0.4 cents per Hilton point, the points portion is worth about US$520, or US$370 after the annual fee, before counting the free night. That is an estimate of redemption value, not cash back: Hilton’s dynamic award pricing means your results will vary.

The card earns 12 points per US$1 on eligible purchases directly with Hilton hotels and resorts; six at US restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations; four on US online retail purchases; and three on other eligible spending. At that valuation, those rates represent roughly 4.8%, 2.4%, 1.6% and 1.2% in hotel award value, respectively.

Cardmembers get Hilton Gold status and up to US$50 in eligible Hilton statement credits each quarter. Using all four credits yields US$200 annually—US$50 more than the fee—but only count spending you would make anyway. A separate free night reward requires US$15,000 in eligible purchases per calendar year; it is not an automatic renewal perk.

This card earns Hilton points, not Amex Membership Rewards. Hilton offers airline transfers, but the source identifies no particularly useful partners and generally advises against those redemptions. Hilton award stays are the stronger focus. Separately, US Amex Membership Rewards points can transfer into Hilton at 1:2; that does not make Surpass earnings flexible rewards.

Amex’s generally once-per-lifetime welcome-bonus restriction matters for previous Surpass cardholders. Holding most other Hilton cards does not by itself rule out this bonus; check the application terms.

Surpass suits Hilton regulars who can use the quarterly credits without changing their spending. Skip it if you rarely stay with Hilton, want an annual free night without a spending requirement, or prioritize flexible airline transfers.
