Citi Strata Elite pairs AAdvantage transfers with four annual Admirals Club passes
Citi’s US$595 premium card targets American flyers with 1:1 mileage transfers and limited lounge access. Canadian readers should note that Aeroplan is not a listed transfer partner.
Citi’s Strata Elite card, launched in 2025, added a premium option for American Airlines frequent flyers: ThankYou points transfer to AAdvantage at 1:1, and the primary cardholder receives four Admirals Club passes each calendar year. The US$595 annual fee makes this a card to assess against actual spending and lounge use, rather than the advertised total of its credits.
For US travellers, the listed welcome offer is 75,000 ThankYou points after US$6,000 in spending within three months. Current and former Strata Elite cardholders cannot receive the bonus. The card earns 6 points per dollar on flights booked through Citi Travel, 12 on hotels, rental cars and attractions through the portal, and 1.5 on other eligible purchases. Dining earns 3 points per dollar, rising to 6 during the Friday and Saturday Citi Nights windows, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Eastern time.
The American benefits have limits. Each Admirals Club pass covers 24 hours, requires same-day travel on American or a oneworld partner, and covers one adult; accompanying adults need their own passes. This is not an unlimited club membership. Priority Pass membership includes two guests, while authorized users can receive their own membership for an additional US$75 annually. Check participating lounges at your usual airports before assigning these benefits a value.
Two credits offer the clearest potential offset to the fee: up to US$300 each calendar year for prepaid hotel bookings of at least two nights through Citi Travel, and up to US$200 through the enrolment-required Splurge Credit, whose eligible merchants include American Airlines. Qualifying American tickets count, subject to exclusions. Portal hotel bookings may forgo hotel loyalty points and elite benefits. A separate Blacklane credit provides up to US$100 in each half of the year, but only counts as savings if you would otherwise pay for the service.
